Our History

"Customers are not an interruption to our work, they are the purpose of it" - Eddie Attwood, Founder

In 1953, Edward Charles Attwood started a one man operation from a friend’s warehouse. His first order was to supply one bale of 2 ply medium lashing to his landlord. Eddie remained in control of the company until 2005, when the reins were passed to his eldest son, Milton.

During this period the company has grown to employ fifty staff and provide a comprehenive product range (still including 2 ply medium lashing) from five branches throughout New Zealand. The Attwood family continues to maintain 100% ownership, and this enables the company to still provide a family team environment to our staff, suppliers and customers.

Attwoods in the 21st Century is a far different company than when we started.

While we have grown, adopted new technologies and provide the latest packaging and consumable products available, we have maintained some of the qualities that made our business a success from when my father started.

We still believe in providing the best in personal customer service and utilising our many years of experience to continue maintaining our market leading position. This ensures that we provide quality, relevant products to our customers, along with a service that is often commented on as being seldom experienced elsewhere.

My father had a slogan that “Customers are not an interruption to our work, they are the purpose of it.” My team and I still personally believe this and strive to deliver it every day to our customers.
